Topper is a young man of 20 with dark red loosely curled hair, scruffy beard and grey-blue eyes. Topper’s clothes and leathers tend to be either new or untended to. Topper would rather buy new clothes or have “friends” tend to them. His belt holds a wooden recorder along with his weapons. Topper is friendly enough, talking a lot and likes his beer. Topper tends to talk a lot and punctuates his conversation with back slapping and snippets of poetry or lewd jokes neither of which he tends not to remember all the words to.
“I’m living free in this world. I comes from Pitax but there was a woman see and a bit o’a misunderstanding that forced me to leave that humdrum boring world o’towns and cities behind. Good blessings of Cayden that!”

“Anyway, to seek my fortune out here as a brigand, what a life! And to have that life of wenchin’ and danger with riches and glory become so much more when I, I, became a true lord of Narlmarch as Magister and then be promoted to Minstrel; can you think of anything more worthy of a great poet like meself?!”
Topper went on to become Magister of Narlmarch with students to take advantage of and boons to convince shopkeeps to give him. Then he was removed from the position and made Minstrel which was perfect until months went by and he discovered that the position didn’t actually exist. Still he had fans and beer and idle time to whore and party.
Then he was kidnapped by a crone worshipper of the cult of Gyronna, drugged and held for weeks in a cabin lost in the Narlmarch Forest being raped and abused. If it weren’t for the Perlivash the faerie dragon and some of the other fae of the northern wood it is likely he would have died there and if it hadn’t been for Perlivash Topper may well have never recovered from the trauma.
Topper spent weeks wandering about with the faerie dragon playing pranks and struggling to not succumb to the nightmares and depression. It was then that the lad wandered into Rickety Bridge and met the hiding provocateur Grigori. Topper knew who the man was and planned to ultimately present the man to Yorick after playing with the wanted man; what Topper didn’t expect was that the two men would mutually fall in love. They verbally sparred, put on entertainment shows and argued about virtually everything until the realization of their relationship dawned on them and Topper realized that he needed to make a choice.
The young man woke knowing that he would betray his lover and left Grigori to track down the messenger who Red knew would be delivering Grigori’s pay. The identity of the messenger his to use Topper then followed the man to the Sootscale caverns where he deceived him with illusion and convinced Grigori that no more payments would be coming. Grigori, already thinking his lover dumped him and he was no longer going to be paid Grigori decided to move south and try his political experiment on a larger scale in the River Kingdoms or Galt.
Topper relaxed and went on with his life. He thought that he had saved his kingdom from outside agitation and saved his lover from assassination. Grigori’s head appearing in a gift box for General Corbin came as a terrible shock.
